About the Office
The Douglas County Register of Deeds is an elected partisan position with a four-year term of office.
It is the duty of the Register of Deeds to record:
- construction liens
- tax liens (federal and state)
- UCC filings
- other instruments and writings presented to him or her for recording
The Register of Deeds shall keep a book or computerized system, as provided by Nebraska Revised Statutes Section 23-1517.02, in which every instrument filed for record in his or her office shall be entered at the time of filing and is available for public record.
