The Douglas County Register of Deeds is an elected partisan position with a four-year term of office. It is the duty of the Register of Deeds to record deeds, mortgages, assignments, releases, assessments, construction liens, tax liens (federal and state), UCC filings, instruments and writings presented to him or her for recording. The Register of Deeds shall keep a book or computerized system, as provided by Nebraska Revised Statutes Section 23-1517.02, in which every instrument filed for record in his or her office shall be entered at the time of filing and is available for public record.
