Register of Deeds Staff Donates Funds to Flood Victims
Â
Omaha, NE—Wednesdays are fun days for the employees of the Douglas County Register of Deeds—for just $1 they can wear jeans to work and feel good about it. That’s because the money that is collected—the staff call it “jeans money”-- always is donated to a charitable organization, such as the Food Bank or Siena/Francis House. But this time the funds will be designated to a bigger, more far-reaching cause—helping the ever-increasing group of flood victims, according to Diane Battiato, Douglas County Register of Deeds.
Â
“This year’s flooding has been devastating; it has impacted so many people in such as large area. Nearly everyone in our office knows of someone who has been touched by the floods”, Battiato said. “It is so sad. We wanted to do something to help.”
Â
Battiato said the staff collected $500 in jeans money that will be donated to the Red Cross “Flood-victims Relief Fund.”
Â
“The staff was adamant about doing something to help the flood victims. The contribution is our way of letting them know that we care and are praying for their wellbeing,” Battiato explained.
